Each year, the Paintress inscribes a number on her monolith, and everyone of that age dissolves into smoke—a death sentence counted steadily downward. With “33” due tomorrow, Expedition 33 prepares to set out and destroy her, turning a chilling ritual of subtraction into a desperate act of defiance.
